My, How Time Flies

It has been a few days! It seems like even though the days are getting longer (it's no longer dark when I leave the shop! Yay!), the hours I have to work are never quite enough! Funny how that goes. Among the many things happening around here, my earrings from the lovely Angie Losek arrived earlier this week!
Aren't they so pretty! I was very excited to receive them! You can check out her shop here- Emerald City Stones

Also- I suppose it is Treasury Thursday instead of Tuesday! I am going to have to start making out a scheduled list of things to do every day rather than walking into work and just winging it. We'll see how that goes...

1. Short & Stout- Dachshund Love!

I am not exactly sure what all weiner dogs, hot air balloons, the color yellow and black bears have in common but that is what I was really feeling the last couple days! And there was all sorts of cool things to be found so I must not be the only crazy person.

There have been lots of new additions to the shop as well, including some pretty new pieces just in time for Valentine's Day!

14k Gold Heart Ring
Other than that- if that isn't enough- we have been out hunting and searching for cool vintage & antique junk. We haven't found much this week, but there's still a few days left. We did stop by a house earlier in the week to look at some furniture, but after seeing two cockroaches scamper across the walls, we felt like it might be safer to keep on looking!
We have also been getting our spirits caught up by all the beautiful sunshine that we have gotten in the last week or so. Mind you, the temperature was about 20 degrees one day this week, brrrrr, but that hasn't stopped us from stocking up on mis-tinted paints and wooden shelves and desks as well as some ceramic things that I have in mind to get the spray paint treatment. At least we will be prepared when it is finally as warm as it looks! Until then, I'm admiring the sunshine from indoors.

I'm kind of drooling a little..

So I've been playing on etsy.com this afternoon, and basically all I know is that I want this outfit by Thrush so bad. Just thought you should know!!

Ooh, or maybe this one.....

And this one too!!

Heck, I'll take them all!!!

Treasury Tuesday

First things first! It is Treasury Tuesday, and this week I am delighted to not only showcase my own treasury, but we also had one of our items included in Diana Divine's treasury, "Things to Make You Smile, Despite the Snow". It always makes me smile when others are kind enough to feature our items!
The theme for our shop's treasury this week is in the style of Alphonse Mucha. A friend was showing me a piece she owned (shown below) and I was just like... "I have a ring that looks just like her!" I found that pretty exciting and wanted to know more, so I spent forever trying to find more about my ring. I never did, but I fell absolutely in love with his women. The Fox has really been getting me into Art Nouveau & Art Deco, so this is right up our alley!!
Byzantine Head. The Blonde
You can find our treasury, featuring all sorts of amazing shops and items here: Beauty in Bohemia- Mucha Madness

*************************************************************************

This week marks our first week on our new work schedule- we open an hour later and switched our day off from Tuesday (which wasn't even really a day off- The Fox wouldn't barber but our jewelry store was still open) to Monday- so now we can enjoy actually having a weekend! In saying that.. we spent it like we spend all of our time- digging around for new finds, spending time with family and friends, and running around like a couple of kids cracked out on candy.
It has finally stopped raining around here, although in exchange it has also dropped about 30 degrees. I haven't decided how fair of a trade this is... but it is nice not to be soggy all the time.
In saying that, the sun has refused to come out, which has really been holding me back from getting new jewelry listed. There is just something about natural sunlight that makes a huge difference on photographs. We are amateurs on that front here, so we need all the help we can get! I do have some quick snapshots from my phone of some of the things we've found/what we have been up to! (Yes, we had a puppy for about 9 hours on Saturday! But it was passed along to a good home and I am relieved to not be potty training this week. Not my greatest strength!!)

So cute!

Spool & beautiful napkin holder
More spools with one of my favorite bracelets!

Old Boxes and Old Pictures. Hard to beat!

Old frame paired with an awesome floral arrangement!

The Fox's new favorite find.

My pillowcase finds from our local St. Vincent De Paul

Not garden fresh- but still pretty tasty!

Seeds from Baker Creek Heirlooms!

My excitement is barely contained! :)

Phew! You made it to the end! I feel a little overwhelmed, myself! I think I shall take a well-earned lunch break now that it is... 2:15?? This new schedule may be more different than I had anticipated!!
May peace and the saints go with you through your day!

Hip Hip Hoorah!

I am in progress on a full blog post for later on today, but first I had to do a little victory dance! This weekend I was the winner in Angie Losek's giveaway! She is the mastermind behind Emerald City Stones- with beautiful handmade jewelry! I will definitely be showing my new earrings off when they arrive, but until then, there are all sorts of beautiful things available in her shop; these are just a few! The pieces are great, and so are her prices! Thank you so much, Angie, and keep up the amazing work!

Mail Call!

The last couple days have been pretty exciting; I went a little overboard with my Christmas cash and the packages to prove it are starting to roll in! I got some fabulous felt from sweet emma jean that came today, and it is just wonderful. There are so many colors to choose from; I could only get one of each (I say each- she offers 130 different colors and I got 35!), but they are fantastic quality and I cannot wait to start making stuff with them. Although I am always a little hesitant to mess them up, so I have to just sit and gaze upon them the first couple days!

The other thing that arrived was these super super cute grocery bags. Made by Cottage Creations out of vintage fabrics, the handles are perfect for the grocery store, or you can also use them to tote stuff, such as your ridiculous stack of library books! I am in love with them, and have been using them every chance I get. The only problem is I only have two! I need more! I feel an addiction coming on.

Aside from that, I have just been getting ready for The Fox's birthday- it is tomorrow and I have been working on a Ninja Turtles canvas and a cookie cake all yesterday and today. For as much time as I've spent, I would like to think they would be a lot less janky, but unfortunately, that seems to be the standard around here. Thankfully, he is not too picky! And now I am off; to eat my half of a giant chocolate chip cookie and fill my grocery bags with food!

My favorite places are old barns....

Whew! One thing I both love and hate about owning a small business/being my own boss is that your hours are never the same! Somehow our free weekend turned into two days of digging through old buildings (one of which is actually another local vintage/thrift store- much bigger and way more hip than us!) to find all sorts of treasures.
Some things were specifically for stocking the shop's shelves (gettin' my alliteration on!), but what is the point of being a hunter-gatherer if you can't pack some of it home?? When I found this little guy, I grabbed on and didn't let go. In fact, The Fox had to pry it out of my hands to find it a nook at home. I present to you---
Algie. A very solemn but sea-worthy fellow who may not say a lot, but is most dependable in tempestuous times.

He's a keeper!

Other fabulous finds included these adorable cookware pieces- "Country Flowers" by Andrea from Sadek- which I think are so pretty and perfect for spring!

Some bamboo style tables which need a little work, but look so cool! We are playing with the idea of spray painting them, but haven't decided.

This bad-A copper scuba diver who hangs on the wall. I'm not a big beach or ocean person in decorating, but this guy is just cool!!

And this little lady is actually a dinner bell! I wanted to keep her also, but The Fox is pretty mischievous, and I don't know that I want to hear her dinging away all the time!

So today has been mostly cleaning, pricing, re-arranging, and so forth. We are also in the process of re-arranging basically our entire house, painting, re-decorating, keeping busy!

Thanks for checking us out! We have added some lovely jewelry to our etsy shop throughout the last 3-4 days and there is plenty to choose from. We also had our first online sale earlier last week, which was very exciting! Please continue to pop in and see what's new; both in the shop & in our lives!

New Year, New Jewelry

I had intended to update here at least two days ago! But life gets in the way. It is the start of a new year, and although it is freezing cold, the days have begun to stretch out a little more sunlight, and the weather has been beautiful. My Christmas decorations are all tucked away, and I'm half way through getting all of our taxes prepared to take to the accountant. So there is really not too much to complain about! Except for that other half of the taxes... It can get pretty crazy when you and your spouse are both self employed and run two different businesses! In saying all that, with regards to our jewelry/antique/novelty shop- get excited! We have two new pieces ready for purchase:

1. 925 Sterling Silver Money Clip

I just love this vintage money clip! It's a Mexican piece, and the details on it are gorgeous. It's a perfect guy gift, of course, but how handy would it be to have this stashed in your car's console ready to grab and go when you need it?

So pretty!! These orchid earrings are post style pierced, and are so unique! They have a great look to them, and are also stamped from Mexico. They are probably close to 30 years old, making them a great vintage item.

And there will be more going up today and throughout the weekend, including some beautiful diamond rings & cameo pieces. One of my goals for this year is to do a better job of also including some more kitschy pieces, both vintage and made by yours truly, instead of just saying that I am going to! We shall see...

Be sure to check out our shop and twitter over the next couple of days so you don't miss out on the new stuff, and thanks for stopping by!!
